Sandy Evans, Original Artwork
CONTEMPORARY ABSTRACT & SEMI-ABSTRACT ARTIST
Rather than "Sandra", I'm called "Sandy" by friends and family. Born on the west coast of Florida, I now reside just outside of Portland, Oregon.
Art and the need to create have always been a part of my life. After my teaching career, I wanted to see just how much I could do with this urge I have to create. I began to take classes and have had the pleasure to learn from some great artists, experienced in colored pencil, watercolor, mixed media, and acrylic.
My paintings begin and end with color. Since the joy of that first 48 -color box of crayons as a young girl; color has always been a big part of my life and, to me, the essence of beauty. I enjoy color everywhere I look; from nature, to the color combinations in fabrics, to colorful ceramic and glass art.
Originality, vibrancy & unique design are also important components of my artwork. I have all of these "art rules" in my head but my personality likes to "step out of the box" and stretch rules to see what I can come up with.
Working in acrylic allows me the flexibility to experiment and to put color down quickly, but then to change things if necessary. For me, this process creates spontaneity to let the colors and ideas flow.
I get ideas from something I've just experienced, what I've seen while traveling, or my subconscious imagination, my inner thoughts, or quite often, issues I've been thinking about.
I hope you enjoy my art and would enjoy seeing it in your life!
